Annual Quilt Raffle

For many seasons the OPS Museum has received an annual quilt donation from the local quilting group, the Ocracoke Needle and Thread Club. Each coverlet seems lovelier than the last, and as we sell raffle tickets daily at our gift shop counter, we receive countless compliments on the women’s work.

This year's quilt is a traditional Ocracoke cracker pattern with blue sashing, and is strikingly gorgeous.  Each piece was lovingly stitched, embroidered and donated by the Ocracoke Needle and Thread Club.  It will be raffled off at our membership meeting in early November.  If you visit Ocracoke during the 2011 season, be sure to stop by our museum to see the newest Ocracoke quilt.  Maybe you will be the lucky winner next year!

*NOTE: The 2011 quilt raffle came to a close at our membership meeting on November 8.  Congratulations to this year's quilt winner, Susan Weaver of Mt. Ulla, NC!!!

Local Exhibits

The Ocracoke Museum hosts art exhibits by local & North Carolina artists. Photographs, paintings, and carvings are featured in these shows, which open to the accompaniment of music, flowers, refreshments and a chance to meet the artists. These openings receive support from the Beaufort County Arts Council who is funded through the NC Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina, and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
